EMDR Intensives

Focused time and personalized support for deeper trauma healing.

Sometimes a traditional 50-minute session doesn't provide enough time to fully settle into trauma work, engage in meaningful processing, and return to a grounded state before the hour ends.

Why Group Work?

Depth that weekly sessions can't always reach

An EMDR Intensive offers a more spacious and focused approach. Instead of spreading the work across many weekly appointments, you and your therapist set aside extended periods of time for preparation, EMDR processing, and integration.

At Living Well Psychotherapy, every intensive is thoughtfully planned around your history, needs, goals, and readiness. The intention is not to rush your healing. It is to create a safe, supportive therapeutic structure in which deeper work can unfold with greater continuity.

Four stages of care

Your $1,500 package includes every stage — from first reflection to final integration.

Personalized Preparation Workbook

Before meeting with your therapist, you'll receive a comprehensive preparation workbook designed to help you:

  • Clarify what you would like to address

  • Identify important experiences, patterns, and triggers

  • Explore the beliefs and emotions connected to your concerns

  • Recognize existing strengths and sources of support

  • Begin preparing emotionally for the intensive

  • Establish goals for the work

Completing the workbook gives you time to reflect at your own pace — and helps your therapist develop an intensive that is responsive to your individual needs.

90-Minute Preparation & Resourcing Session

You'll meet with your therapist before beginning intensive EMDR processing. Together you'll:

  • Review your preparation workbook

  • Clarify the focus and goals of the intensive

  • Discuss what to expect from the EMDR process

  • Identify memories, beliefs, or patterns to address

  • Practice grounding and emotional-regulation skills

  • Develop a plan for maintaining safety and stability

  • Determine whether you feel adequately prepared to proceed

Your therapist will not ask you to begin processing before you have established appropriate resources and feel sufficiently ready.

Extended EMDR Processing

On a separate day — or across multiple days — you'll participate in extended EMDR processing. Depending on your clinical needs, your intensive may include a block of:

  • Two hours

  • Three hours

  • Four hours

Longer appointments create greater continuity and allow more time for focused processing without the repeated starting and stopping of weekly therapy.

Breaks are built into every intensive. You and your therapist will continually monitor your experience and adjust the pace. You remain in control throughout — and may pause, slow down, or stop at any time.

90-Minute Integration Session

Following the processing portion, you'll meet for a 90-minute integration session. This appointment provides time to:

  • Reflect on what emerged during the intensive

  • Notice shifts in thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and physical responses

  • Make meaning of your experience

  • Strengthen new insights and internal resources

  • Address any remaining questions or concerns

  • Discuss continued therapy or follow-up recommendations

  • Develop a plan for supporting yourself as the work continues to integrate

EMDR processing can continue to unfold after the intensive itself. The integration session helps consolidate the work rather than leaving the experience unfinished.

Is This Right for You?

Who may benefit from an EMDR Intensive

  • Want to focus on a particular traumatic or distressing experience

  • Find that weekly sessions end just as you're beginning to engage in deeper work

  • Are preparing for an event that activates unresolved fear or distress

  • Can set aside protected time for preparation, processing, rest, and integration

  • Feel stuck around a persistent memory, belief, or emotional pattern

  • Want more continuity than traditional weekly therapy provides

  • Have already developed some stability and emotional-regulation skills

  • Have already developed some stability and emotional-regulation skills

EMDR may be used to address post-traumatic stress, childhood or attachment-related trauma, medical trauma, relationship trauma, grief, persistent shame or guilt, anxiety connected to earlier experiences, and other distressing memories or patterns. You do not need a formal PTSD diagnosis to explore whether EMDR may be helpful.

Before We Begin

Is an EMDR Intensive right for everyone?

An intensive is not appropriate for every person or every stage of healing. Extended trauma processing requires adequate preparation, stability, and support. Before scheduling, a Living Well therapist will speak with you about:

  • What you are currently experiencing

  • What you hope to address

  • Your previous experience with therapy or EMDR

  • Your current coping resources and support system

  • Any safety or stabilization concerns

  • Whether an intensive or another form of treatment would best meet your needs

Your therapist may recommend additional preparation, weekly therapy, coordination with another provider, or a different level of care before beginning an intensive. This does not necessarily mean that EMDR will never be appropriate — it may simply mean that establishing additional safety, stability, or support should come first.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

How quickly will the intensive take place?

Therapy often focuses on healing, resolving past trauma, and managing clinical mental health conditions. Coaching is forward-focused and goal-oriented, helping you clarify vision, overcome roadblocks, and build sustainable momentum in life, career, and relationships.

How do I know if I need coaching, therapy, or both?

If you are experiencing acute distress, depression, or unaddressed trauma, therapy is typically the best starting point. If you feel generally stable but stuck, unmotivated, or ready for meaningful growth, coaching is ideal. Many clients also engage in both concurrently.

What happens on a free consultation call?

Our free 20-minute consultation is a low-pressure conversation where we discuss your current goals, answer any questions you have, and help determine whether coaching is the right fit for your needs.

Do you offer virtual coaching, or only in-person sessions?

We offer both virtual coaching sessions nationwide and in-person sessions depending on your location and coach availability.

How much does coaching cost?

Coaching fees vary based on the coach's clinical experience and the package or frequency of sessions you choose. We will go over full pricing transparently during your consultation call.

Can I do coaching and therapy at the same time?

Yes! Coaching and therapy can be highly complementary when focused on different aspects of your well-being and personal growth.
